The JK-does-Jerry stuff gets a bit fatiguing, as usual, but there otherwise are plenty of dynamic moments for Furthur during this show.

That Jack Straw is, indeed, special. For Furthur it really sets a high water mark, and the band really shows what it can do. For Furthur it's one of the best things I've heard them play......but let's NOT compare this to any versions the GD did - the miracle of those awesome JS openers in the 80s and 90s was when the band found itself in sync so tight and so early - the boys always seemed as amazed as we were that they were able to pull it off. Furthur may be a more *competent* band all around, but we don't feel the gruff, eternal struggle in the music. To follow that tune with Eyes is a real treat. Someone the audience is really, REALLY excited for Man Smart, etc.

Why does Z-Man announce "good night" at the end of the first set closer, Passenger?

That Jack Straw was flippin' OUTTA SIGHT! i am still talking about it 4 years later!

This was oversold, and hundreds missed several songs or more waiting patiently to get into the building. I did ask for a public apology and got the corporate strong arm instead. Peace and love only gets you so far these days...

Subject: Great show.
Overcramped ;), oversold, and overhyped. But there was still alot of love. Incredible show that really brought alot of people closer to home. Absolutely fantastic.

i am truely grateful to have been able to have been there in the places and times that i was during this magical experience. it really was an education to be that close. but i thought that this kind of thing was more about love and acceptance and making real change, and less about how awesome the show was. not that it wasn't, but there was alot going on.

the opening was slow with promised land.

not a bad brown eyed, followed up to more slowness up to a mindblowing estimated prohept and steller liberty/passnger.

the second set is a masterpiece by any standards. esp, with the high energy from scarlet through eyes, a great cumberland, and an amazing cassady into MOTM, with a crazily powerful DDHNM and great fire.

Subject: RATDOG SONGS
To what was said earlier:
Ratdog, covers, or any other songs are great to add to the FURTHUR song book

money for gasoline is a great RATDOG tune and Two Djinn

When to the Furthur NH show
and have checked out all the shows from the tour on archive, but can not decide between this show or the NH show I went to as the show of the tour.

Subject: interesting show.
First set had a unique vibe with money for gasoline and JK singin Brent's "Just a little light" I dug both versions very much. Highlights were El Paso, Estimated and Passenger.

Mountains of the moon added some much needed weirdness, which has been missing without "Space"...Wish I was there, cause I'm sure this show was much better in person. Only the first listen, though.. Second Set starts out smokin, but doensnt' finish quite as strong..(Miami set the bar so high especially with playing best towards the end..not sure this one reaches those heights.. granted, i'm biased. I was only at miami)...Fabulous Scarlet, Jack Straw. Cassidy was also amazing.. the > Mtns of the moon > Death don't was really cool/interesting, but not incredibly mind blowing. Mountains of the moon is one of my favorites and it's just missing something.. acoustic? vocals? jerry? I love phil singing, but i'm not sure he should be singing MOTM. Death Don't came at a great spot, but JK didn't get really into it until the very ending. He never took a devestating blues solo in it either, like this song craves. Chimenti was tearing it up, though.. And fire.. I like the Scarlet>Fire set idea, but I have a high standard for fire (eyes too) and both versions are very good, but not sonically out of this world. Granted, I was not there to live it in the moment.

Are you @:#$:#! kidding me?!! DID YOU HEAR THAT JACKSTRAW!!?!! This band is night and day better than what they were putting out in the fall. John was trying to find his place, now the other guys are just trying to keep up. Finally the correct lead guitar dynamic. We got ourselves a new leader boys. THE MUSIC IS PLAYING THE BAND ONCE AGAIN!!!

I had the good fortune of heading S to the Miami show and man was I am impressed at this latest collaboration of musicians to joing forces with Bobby, Phil + co...

Pretty solid 1st set...really enjoyed the Just a Little Light and Estimated, Bobby seems to hit Estimated everytime/where I seem them play it !!! Nice Passenger closer.

Second Set was off the charts...incredible song selection that is fresh and difft from the norm...Jack Straw coming out of Scarlett is truly a surprise here but damn did they hit that segue out of Scarlet to open the 2nd set. Only real complaint is that Phil should stick to as many Phil songs as possible and limit some of the Jerry songs...MOTM was tough to listen to...God Bless Phil for keeping on keeping on at 70 but I'd rather here John or anybody for that matter on the Jerry ballads. DDHNM was great !!!

Wish I'd been able to hit another...thanks to these tapers for getting these shows up so quick !!!

Subject: solid night three
2nd set is the best set of first three shows with the exception of 2/5 second set. first set was uneven- smokin Promised-BEW start fizzled big time with little light and $ for gasoline. I found one thing that WH did better than JK with these guys - sing Brent tunes. BW- please dont play ratdog tunes in this band. 1st set Estimated was really nice- again showing that BW is really good at being BW, NOT JG, as we heard in the lame liberty that followed. nice passenger closer with girls singing.
2nd set was intense- excellent Scarlet-Jack, mellow '73 style Eyes, great women smarter with JC kickin it, good sing-along cumberland OUTSTANDING 2nd set Cassidy (great spot for this tune- it can really grow out) Mts of the Moon never does it for me, but JK singing DDHNM does! Weird segue after that into Fire, but super-hot set a great FOB recording: thanks Zman!

Subject: "We Want Phil?"
Whatever happend to those times when 50,000 of us would all start chanting in unison, "WE WANT PHIL! WE WANT PHIL!"? It was a nice treat to hear Phil belt one out and the crowd never failed to show its appreciation for his effort. That being said, Phil singing 3 out of 5 tunes in a row in the 2nd set(Eyes/Cumberland/Mountains) miiiiight be a little much. I think were all lovin' this new lineup but you know what they say about too much of a good thing. Please dont construe this as a negative post because that was farthest thing from my intention. Just throwin in my 2cents, See you at Moheagan Sun!!!!

Subject: Purple Guitar
I like that purple guitar. I know it's corny, but I'd been listening obsessively to the song Purple Rain, even in my head as I walked into the show, and when I saw that guitar, and heard it play, I thought, this is what Purple Rain must be like:)Okay I know Purple Rain isn't a Dead song- but it is very passionate. Anyway, thanks for making it back to Atlanta-more than once this year-eh?
Dittos on the Jack Straw-and the Scarlet too~It certainly felt like I'd been there before:)~ one of the best shows-if not the best I've ever seen. It was soooo much fun!!! and soooo much joy! I felt like I was really at a Dead show with so many happy people all around. It felt like home ~ Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile:)

I wanted to hear DDHNM....
segueing it with Mtns of the moon was true surprise.
Yes they are on fire, that was every bit as good as any show I ever saw with Capt Trips himself.
Thank you spirit in the sky for grateful dead music.
only thing I can add, is mannnnnnnnn, I wish I could have seen Miami too!!!

Z-Man, tarheelmike here. Due to life, am not going to make any shows on this tour. This recording sounds the best of all the Furthur I have downloaded. Thanks for the incredible effort and fast upload. Hate that I am kind of out of the taper scene but glad that the hardcores like you are still out there. Great show and even better recording. Keep up the good work!

The entire second set was amazing, but hearing Death Has No Mercy at the Tabernacle (a 100 year old church) was incredible! A blazing finish to an incredible night

Subject: Jack Straw
The venue was overbooked, but I was fortunate enough to be on the floor during the best Jack Straw ever. During the second jam, the floor was bouncing, as were the rest of us, and even though it was incredibly hot under the lights, I had the best case of goosebumps ever.

Subject: SPOILED ROTTEN
Haven't had a chance to listen to the entire show yet...in fact, I just turned "Promised Land" on now. What I really want to say, though, is how spoiled and lucky our community is to have access to this show less than 24 hours after it was played.

I'll be sure to post a review once I've had the chance to listen to the entire show, but bravo to our tapers for doing the dirty work necessary to spread the music!
